"Be Brave" by Sara Bareilles
*Today is the first day I'm introducing our "Life Lessons" to my class.
*Thursdays are one of my most favorite days of the writing week.
*We begin by watching the video. After the video we talk about the message/theme/lesson.
*I then show the video again to the class.
*The next step is for the writer's to spend 5-10 minutes writing about the video in their writer's notebook. They can write anything they want related to the video/lesson/idea.
*The final aspect of this time is to have a few of the writers share what wrote.
*This lesson of "Be Brave" carries us through the whole year and will be referred to often.
